Project Name:   Puget Sound Energy--Baker Lake/Alder Creek Site Elk Habitat Enhancement

Project Scope:  Remove Blackberry and small woody plants from grass meadows to allow grass propagation and better elk access to the forage.  Most of the berry plants are interspersed within the grassy areas.  Only a few are impenetrable jungles, which will most likely be “attacked” later with heavy equipment.  Area to be covered is about 2 acres.

Expected Duration.  May last all day depending on number of volunteers

 

Anticipated Number of Volunteers Needed:  20

 Meals Provided: Lunch will be provided by PSE’s Tony Fuchs

Special Equipment Needed: Tools for removing, cutting blackberry vines.

Weedeaters

Gloves

Boots

Clothes suitable for handling black berry vines

Loppers

Safety gear suitable for any power equipment—ear plugs, safety glasses, chaps, hard hat, etc.  Will have some safety glasses available (bring your own if you have them).

 

Rally Point: Intersection of Hwy 20 and Baker Lake Hwy

You will meet at rally point and then proceed to site through DNR gate. 

 

Special Instructions:   If interested, please call or e-mail Steve to confirm and so we can notify you of any changes or cancellations later.  He will give specific directions and coordinate with PSE regarding number of volunteers signed up.  Tony will likely have a volunteer waiver form for you to fill out prior to beginning the work.
